This antique copper lusterware jug or pitcher is a true piece of history. Unmarked but most likely made in England, it features a honeycomb shape on the base and the copper finish has a rose tint.
Metallic luster on pottery was obtained by firing a copper-salt glaze that was applied to the pottery surface.Copper lusterware was made by a wide variety of potters in England from about 1820 to 1850, mostly for the mass market and its highly collectable.
