An antique \"ERIE\" number 8 cast iron skillet from the Griswold foundry in Erie, PA before they were using \"Griswold\" in the branding. This pan is a 2nd (second) series pan, dating it to the late 1880\'s-late 1890\'s. This antique is in superb condition, with no sulfur-pitting or signs of neglect. One or two fleabites on the bottom. The cooking surface is also immaculate, with some utensil marks and perhaps one fleabite. Sits flat, no spin. Doesn\'t wobble on my kitchen table but I am not sure the old table is perfectly flat.HOWEVER, there is a hairline crack near the handle as you can hopefully see in the pics. Skillet does not leak. The crack runs about 40% down the cooking side and is visible for perhaps 25% of the back side. I am happy to send more pics upon request.Plenty of people will continue to use skillets in this condition, for cornbread or burgers, or are looking for a display piece. If you\'re one of them, this Erie skillet might be for you! I found this skillet in very good shape, it only needed 24 hours in lye bath and 3 coats of canola oil to strip and re-season. Lots of life left in this 140 year old pan.
Will ship in pool-noodle-like orthopedic foam wrapped around the pan then packed with bubble-wrap and/or butcher paper. Happy to send pics of this setup or accommodate alternate methods. Flat $10 shipping.
