Antique Henry Disston 14\" Back Saw-13PPI - (1840-50) Eagle Medallion-152:

You are looking at an antique 14\" Back saw made in the USA by Henry Disston from 1840-1850. The saw is marked on the Eagle medallion which also dates the saw. The Plate on the saw measures 14\" X 3 3/8\" and is straight. The etch on the blade is completely worn away. The blade features 13 points per inch and is relatively sharp for the age. The plate has a ice patina to it, but also shows some dark spots from previous oxidation. The folded steel back of the saw bares the \"Henry Disston (No Sons) PHILADA stamp. The handle on this piece is Apple, and no splits or cracks. There is a small chip under the bottom split nut on the face. On the back of the saw are the initials of a former owner (WWM). The handle does show some finish wear. It is held tight to the blade with three brass split nuts, one of which holds the \'H. Disston - PHILADA\" spread eagle medallion.
