Antique Irish Pewter Pint Mug or Tankard, J. AUSTEN, Cork, c. 1828 - 1833. This sale is for an Antique Irish pewter pint mug or tankard. The mug has it's size impressed on the front center. On the inside of the mug is an impressed mark that has a lion on top of a crown. Around the lion and crown it reads, "AUSTEN & SON - CORK - IMPERIAL". Then it reads, "94 NORTH MAIN STREET." This is the makers mark, which can be found in "OLD PEWTER, IT'S MAKERS AND MARKS", page151, #153. This is a nice cylindrical tankard with a stepped base and a tapered shape.I offer this Irish pewter pint mug with the opening offer the reserve and a "Buy It Now".DIMENSIONS: The pewter pint mug is 4 1/2" H. x 3 5/16" Dia. at the top rim and 4" Dia. at the base.CONDITION: The tankard is in very good condition with some denting and minor wear to the pewter.
