While I know that this is an antique, I am unsure of its original use. These Antique pieces are treasures of earlier American weaving. I estimate this piece to be late 1800s/early 1900s, but don’t know for sure.
Its purple/lavender and black designs are absolutely mesmerizing. I hand rinsed this piece in cold water and let it dry in the sun. There is some fading, fraying, and staining as to be expected for age. I have not used any soap or stain removal agents to further clean this piece because I am inexperienced with this category of textile and feared ruining it. It’s truly a piece of art and history.
