Pewter LIDHand Painted.
Round, with raised Basket-weave bottom half,
Brown Weaved Handle
Classic 3 leaves on both sides of Handle
and Gorgeous Turquoise top half and
inside lining.Measures 4-¼" tall with Lid.
Capacity 10+ouncesNo stains or blemishes, no losses.
The Lid is equally charming with
a decorative finial.

Very Sweet collectable piece of majolica. Not marked, but surely English Staffordshire. Amazing for its age (c1880) no chips. Handle is good and strong but does exhibit slight roughness. Otherwise all is nice and smooth. Turquoise interior. Pewter Lid is great. Unmarked Pretty basketweave with no staining. On the bottom there is a crack line, see photo #9, that I believe is a firing defect. If you get to the light so that you can see the inside bottom it is also there and longer, goes all the way across the bottom, but does not come through.
It remains a solid piece.

This piece is not marked, except for a blurred "A".
Nevertheless, it reliably dates during
the Victorian Majolica
period around 1860-80.
