Antique Needlepoint Colonial Theme Velvet Pillows Metal Bouillon Fringe 12"x9":

This set of two antique needlepoint pillows, appear to be unique in the world. Google finds nothing like them, although it previously found a single set of pictures, which I believe was this selfsame pair of pillows.

They are made of a cotton or silk velour fabric, filled with what may be modern replacement pillow forms, and trimmed with short, dense twisted metal bouillon fringe that as far as I can research was made and used primarily in the late 1800s to very early 1900s. This fringe should be considered fragile and pulling on it will expand and damage it permanently.

The appliqué needlepoint images are exquisitely done. The stitches are minute and the images they create are iconic. I believe they depict portraits of images of Native Americans.

Please note, pictures were generally taken with flash, and it makes the colors more vivid than they appear in life. Colors are typically faded/pastel.

The pillow with the image of the woman has a discoloration to the velour at the lower right hand side, beside the appliqué. This discoloration is soft rather than stiff, and I have made no attempt to remedy or repair because I don't want to get it wrong
