This listing is for a large Nippon pitcher or ewer featuring stunning magenta and purple cabbage roses on the exterior. The floral motif was expertly hand-painted in a striking arrangement. Specifically, the beautiful roses were painted in alternating vertical columns. The pitcher also possesses lustrous 24 karat gold accents, which adds a touch of lavish opulence to the overall aesthetic. The gilt embellishments were applied using a pulled feathering technique giving this pitcher not only various textures, but dimensions as well. Near the rim and bottom, this antique also has a white floral pattern set against a chocolate ground. The juxtaposition between the vibrant cabbage roses, encrusted gold overlay, and cocoa ground is just superb! This 19th Century piece also has a stylized, gold handle and slightly lobed mouth. In addition, the flared bottom of the pitcher sits on a tapered pedestal.
Excellent, preowned condition with no repairs or restorations. Some losses/rubbing to the gold. The handle also has a small imperfection from the kiln firing process (please see photographs).
Measures approximately 14\"H by 8.5\"W (handle to spout).Unmarked, but similar examples were produced by Royal Kinran.
