These tiles tell a story I wish I could relate, but alas, I don\'t know the tale. They are between 100 to 250 years old fromthe Qajar Period 1781-1925. There are twenty individual tiles that make of the full picture. You could set them in plaster for an exciting and exotic display, perhaps on your living room wall! Each tile is numbered on the back. They all show wear, and a few have been broken and cemented back together. Please examine photos carefully. The percussionist has damage to his face. But all in all, these colorful tiles retain most of their magical beauty. Each tile is approximately 8 1/4\" x 8 1/4\". Together the grouping is about 42\" x 34\" Twenty loose tiles, Iran, c. 1781-1925
I bought these back in the 1980s from my friend Phil Focer who handled my restoration before I met Mike Pacitti. Phil was expert at lining paintings. He and his mother were in the antiques business in Philadelphia for many years. They have both since passed away, and I miss them. I would usually go to Phil\'s in the evenings after work to discuss business. I bought many wonderful things from him. Often, around midnight, the enigmatic Philadelphia dealer, Charles Sterling would stop by. Charles was definitely the hardest working man I knew in the business. He is remembered and missed by many in the trade in Philadelphia and South Jersey as well as the Miami Beach Antiques show.
