\"The Knight\" is the title of this design, according to the manufacturer\'s catalogue. Though I think it should be in the plural as there are TWO riders here, on two horses. Perhaps the one in the back is the page, so doesn\'t count as a knight. In wonderful color.
Bronze-clad (electro-formed), a manufacturing process by which a skin of bronze was deposited on a plaster form through electro-plating. A handful of companies used this method in the early 1900s to make decorative household objects that had the look, feel, and heft of solid bronze yet were affordable by the middle class.
No maker\'s mark (there would have been foil labels on the bottoms) but this set appears in a catalogue of Galvano Bronze (see last pic). The company started in 1889 as P. Mori & Son, Inc, operating in NYC. They used the trade name Galvano Bronze. Ca. late 19-teens, early \'20s.
Condition is fine. No breaks, though the piece on the left has a wrinkle in the cladding in front of the horses\' heads (see 2nd and 2nd to last pics). Such a wrinkle usually is the result of being dropped; likely this is what happened to this piece, though there is minimal other damage to be found. Paint is original and entirely intact - the best I\'ve seen on this design. Both pieces sit flat and stable.
6 1/4 inches tall; 4 7/8 inches across the back; 2 1/8 inches front to back. Combined weight is just shy of 4 pounds.
