Antique WW1 McClellan Saddle Model 1904:

Original M1904 McClellan military saddle, dyed black for Indian Wars or American Civil War reenacting. 12 inch seat (not the same measurement as a Western saddle - 12 inch is the largest McClellan saddle seat). The original makers mark is faint, but visible. Tree is solid and saddle leather is in good shape, but the original quarter straps (pommel and cantle) and stirrups should be replaced if you're planning to ride much with this saddle. All hardware and stirrups are original. However, the rigging and stirrup straps and latigos appear to be home-made replicas. The dimensions all seem correct, but the stitching doesn't seem professional. Please note, this is technically an artillery saddle, but it's the same design as a cavalry saddle other than the front and rear D-rings and clasps. On this saddle, the rear D-ring and clasp are detatched, but will be included with the original oval-head rivet. If you want to use this as a cavalry saddle, you could just have the front D-ring and clasp removed when you replace the quarter straps, and perhaps have a saddle bag hook installed with the rear quarter strap.
