Absolutely stunning, this antique Wedgwood plate offers aprofusion of hollyhock buds and blossoms in deep aubergine,pinks and yellows which are entirely hand painted (enameled) over thedelicate brown transfer sheet pattern which covers the plate in a tiny, almost paisley looking, swirl. From very light to rich forest green,leaves withyellow stalks of Hollyhock buds are scattered throughout. The edge has a mustard colored, hand painted border.This plate had a life well before , but there is still much life left. I did my best to photograph all imperfections. There is some smudging of the paint on the front and some small spots where the paint is missing. There is some wear to the purple flower, as seen in the pictures. There are also several tiny chips around the edge, as seen in the last photograph. This is one plate in a set of 5 that I have.
