- This unusual, heavy antique, iron ashtray is easily over 100 years old
- It is a classical theme, possibly early art deco
- May be French, as the family it came through lived there around 1909
- It appears to have been cast in two pieces, then attached at the stem between the pieces, making it look like an urn from the side
- Very sturdy and handsome
- The base is decorated with acanthus leaves, a symbol of immortality, longevity, rebirth and healing
- The rectangular compartment on top is for a small box of matches
- Weighs 1 pound 12 ounces
- Base measures 4 7/8 inches by 4 1/8 inch
- Circular ashtray diameter is 3 1/2 inches
- Ashtray with decoration and niche for cigar or cigarette measures 3.5 inches by 5 inches
- 2.25 inches tall
