Part of my personal stash; purchased in the 1960\'s from an antiques dealer who specialized in buying up NOS from high end dress designers and fabric stores that wanted to clear out their old stock.Rich \'FRESH CREAM\' color with a warm very slightly \'Pinkish\' undertone.I\'m calling it a \'\'Broadcloth\'\' but it is more like a CRISP PONGEE if that helps any. It has the weight and wonderful draping quality of a PONGEE but has a more shimmery finish as traditional Pongee has a Matte finish and is more \'fluid\'. NOT A \'Shantung\' as there is no slubbing; not a Taffeta though it has the plain weave and \'swooshy\' sound of one. I\'m only guessing but it might have originally been meant for linings of evening gowns/bridal gowns to give more stability. Maybe theatre/dinner garments that took embellishments as it is very strong.Drapes beautifully, pleats and gathers like a dream. Dry crisp hand. Very sturdy so could take some manipulation without issue. Wonderful unused condition with NO ISSUES. Burn tested for Silk.Other than for originally intended, think DOLL CLOTHING, MILLINERY, HOME DECOR, or it would be perfect for TEXTILE ARTISTS as it should really be an excellent ground for PAINTING or other Embellishments.Buyer to pay shipping with a tracking number.
