is the title of the BING & GRONDAHL (B&G) 1920 Christmas Jubilee Plate, commemorating 25 years of B&G Christmas plates 1895-1920. It features a large Church Bell hanging in a belfry, bearing the inscription SOLI GEO GLORIA (Latin for Glory to God alone). Beyond the bell, you can see the rooftops and chimneys of a small town. The brickwork that surrounds the bell is stunning, with exceptional three-dimensional effect. This plate was designed by JENS PETER DAHL-JENSEN, a collectable artist in his right, and famous for the many animal figurines he designed for B&G, as well as his excellent designs for various B&G Christmas and commemorative plates. In 1925, Dahl-Jensen founded his own porcelain company that produced many beautiful and highly collectable figurines and other porcelain works of art. The scene is embossed on Danish porcelain and hand painted in traditional Copenhagen blue under the glaze. Diameter 9 inches. Pierced foot for hanging wire. Appropriately marked on the back, including the three tower trademark of Bing & Grondahl. The first Jubilee Plate was issued in 1915 to commemorate 20 years of what has become the world’s most popular and longest running series of collector plates. Jubilee plates were issued every five years through 2015, all in the large 9 inch size, each featuring a scene taken from a popular Christmas plate from the past. The 1920 jubilee plate features the motif that was first used on the 1900 Bing & Grondahl Christmas Plate.
