ADAM HUGHES lends his talents to Volume Two of Black Cat with his FIRST of Two (2) Variant Covers for the series. (Hughes additionally creates the ratio variant for Black Cat #4, also available from 's Sasquatch Comics Exchange).
Even earnest admirers of Hughes' Issue #2 tend to miss SPIDER-MAN's amazing appearance in the cover art; have you found him? If you look closely, you'll see Peter Parker's costumed hand reaching out from the top right corner to grab the diamond away from Felicia. (Is that what Pete's really grabbing at? Hmmmm....) She's literally just pulled off a huge heist, if the chaos beneath her on the museum floor is any indication, but somehow Spidey's right there beside her... somewhere -- probably just off cover and handing from the ceiling -- ready to right the wrong and restore order to chaos.
As Hughes does with his Variant for Issue #4 (except in an entirely different way), he uses the cover like a comics panel and expands its storytelling area beyond the page. It's a very novel use of the medium that's clever and seldom seen -- or, at the very least, noticed.
Plus: we love the look on Felicia's face. She's like a kid in candy store.
And, as he's known to do, Hughes' once again uses his art to pay respect to the plunging necklines and bountiful bosoms of Marvel's heroines. His skillful placement of Black Cat in the cover art angles her safely away from the reader, making a full-frontal view of Felicia's cleavage only available to characters off-panel.

... and it ain't no diamond, that's for darn sure.
