This is a truly unique find. It is a SOUVENIR CUP TANKARD from the coronation of George VI (the father of our recent Queen Elizabeth of England.)
Pewter cup measures: 2 7/8\" high x 2 5/8\" diameter.The previous king (Edward VIII) had abdicated (stepped down) after he left the country to marry a divorced American woman (Wallace Simpson)
In May 1937, the new king, King George VI, was crowned and this cup is a souvenir from the Birmingham Gazette of that time.
