--- The black bakelite eyepiece barrel has a cracked area on the rim/lip of the focusing eyepiece (right side). I took close-ups of both sides of the cracks, you can see on the outside to close together cracks go down to the metal focusing ring, on the inside some cracks extend just over the rim in the smooth area but don't appear to extend further. I don't know if this is a chip that was glued back into place, I can see within the boundaries of the cracks some small indents as if it was impacted there. This has no effect on the optics or mechanical operation.
--- The internal optics on both sides have haze and dust. The external optical surfaces look good, I don't see cleaning marks, scratches or nicks. The inside surfaces of the eyepiece elements and the outer objective lenses have dust and haze. Inside the optical path on one side I can see a hint of edge fungus (on what l assume to be the bottom edge of a prism and a mirror...it's hard to tell exactly without knowing the internal arrangement of optics). I wasn't able to capture that in my photos, it's just a light spidery bloom on the bottom edge and I think it's fair to say outside of the optical path). I can see a piece of debris inside one of the lenses in front, it's right at the bottom edge of that lens.
--- The leather case is completely split/torn open on one side, the latch has torn loose from the flap edge as well.
---- Despite the internal optical condition, the view is still sharp with the caveat that it is likely less bright with less contrast due to the internal haze etc, I don't otherwise see issues with the formed image view from the haze or dust (except if you were to point these at a light that was directed towards you, the light would certainly illuminate the haze on the internal surfaces). One time I did catch a glimpse of that edge particle (think of old movie projectors how you sometimes see a tiny bit of dust or debris at the frame edge).
--- These focus fairly close for binoculars (maybe around 5 ft or possibly even closer).
--- Eyepiece and center focus both turn very smoothly without slipping or discontinuities in the rotational travel. Also the rotation between the two halves is also smooth in the same manner.
--- Some light paint bubbling on eyepiece barrels, no chipping though not heavy enoughThe exterior cosmetics are otherwise as shown, some finish rubbing and scratches to the black paint components. The outer covering (not sure if that is leather, seems to thin) is fully intact and is not peeling or bubbling anywhere, see the close-ups of the exterior of the eyepiece barrels where I try to focus on that.
