Original Civil War period CDV of Confederate General William J. Hardee. The CDV is somewhat soiled but desirable. We removed it from its very old plexi-glas case for the photos and then remounted it in the same plexi-glas. There are age scratches on the glass. No international shipping. No returns.
William Joseph Hardee(October 12, 1815– November 6, 1873) was a careerU.S. ArmyandConfederate States Armyofficer. For the U.S. Army, he served in theSecond Seminole Warand in theMexican–American War, where he was captured and exchanged. In theAmerican Civil War, he sided with the South and became ageneral. Hardee served in theWestern Theater.He served in theAtlanta Campaignof 1864 and theCarolinas Campaignof 1865, where he surrendered with GeneralJoseph E. JohnstontoWilliam Tecumseh Shermanin April. Hardee\'s writings aboutmilitary tacticswere widely used on both sides in the conflict. The CSS Pee Dee Confederate Steamer protected his withdrawal across the Big Pee Dee River.
