Authentic shipwreck artifact Revolutionary War Era copper spike in ship's wood recovered off the HMS Astrea, launched in 1781, which sank on Anegada Reef in the British Virgin Islands on May 23, 1808.Unfortunately, four seamen lost their lives. The wreck site is now an underwater National Landmark and now protected and no artifacts can be removed. This bottle was recovered before the wreck was protected. Comes with both a Certificate of Authenticity hand-signed and dated from the salvor, the well known diver and treasure hunter, Bert Kilbride who recovered it in 1968. Also, has an I.D. card displaying photographs of many different angles of the exact artifact for positive identification. The artifacts from the Astrea are considered scarce and are difficult to come across these days.
