This yellow and bluepapier mache Day of the Dead fisherwoman figure was produced by Mexican artist Blanca Todd. It includes her fishing pole. It stands at 19" tall and can be posed upright. Vibrant, eye-catching details include yellow and red flowers, a blue skirt with a cutout fish motif, and even red nail polish. We have several more Day of the Dead figures and papier mache skulls for those are atraditional handcraft in Mexico. The papier-mâché works are also called “carton piedra” (rock cardboard) for the rigidness of the final product.These sculptures today are generally made for certain yearly celebrations,There is also a significant market for collectors as well.
