Historic Disneyland Collectibles from Saturday\'s Toys presents... a vintage one-of-a-kind photograph from the opening days of Tom Sawyer Island at Disneyland... circa June 1956. Notably, Tom Sawyer Island (named after Tom Sawyer... not \"belonging\" to Tom Sawyer... ie \"Tom Sayer\'s\") opened to the public on June 16, 1956... within days of when the image was captured by Disneyland / WED Enterprises photographers... with Walt Disney in attendance to dedicate the attraction.

8\" x 10\"; with red grease pencil crop marks as initially used for publication of the photo (future use of photo would likely be cropped anyway to eliminate excess view of sky). Shows three 1956 youngsters crossing the early version of the suspension bridge with Fort Wilderness in the background. The landscaping is pictured soon after planting; without the dense foliage that would cover the island in later years.

The bridge spanned the watery cove on the eastern edge of the island... between Injun Joe\'s Cave and the pathway to Teeter Totter Rock.
