This is an original 1991 print of a World War II-era poster depicting a soldier manning a machine gun aboard a ship, while high in the skies behind him, a fighter plane is visible with smoke streaming behind it. Five black and white photographs depict soldiers and crew in various capacities. The text reads, “Every mothers son is COUNTING ON YOU! SEE THE JOB THROUGH TO VICTORY!”

The original poster,issued by OWI (Officeof War Information)for the Navy\'s Industrial Incentive Division, was created in 1944 as part of the \"Producefor Your Navy\" series. This illustration was published in a well-printed 1991 collection of popular WWII posters, collated and presented by Derek Nelson, acting as civilian editor for Naval Safety Center publications.

In Nelson\'s words
\"[This poster] is particularly interesting for two reasons. First, it combines an unusual photomontage technique with the elements of traditional posters. Second, it reveals the presence of black sailors alongside white sailors in an inset photo. In the drawing, a sailor mans machine guns aboard a landing craft. The photos show the bridge of a ship, a sailor using a semaphore, an aviation gunner and a pilot manning his aircraft. Note the aircraft going down in smoke in the background, a frequent element in posters.\"

Printed on medium-weight glossy paper, the overall sheet size isapproximately 8.25\"x 11\", andthe printed poster (shown in the scan below)is 6.25\" x 9\", with1\" margins all the way around to allow easy matting and framing. There is another image on the reverse of the print.

The print is afine example of20th centurychromolithography,with distinctive saturated solids. It appears to be an offset halftone process, based on the orientation of the matrix and rosette appearance under magnification.It is a veryattractive work, andwell-printed.
