The History: The Far East Air Forces was activated on August 3,1944. It\'s mission was to provide command control over US Army Air Forcesin the Southwest Pacific Area. The FEAF coordinated the activities of the5th and 13th Air Forces. The duties of FEAF were to launch strategic andtactical bombing attacks, as well as destroy the Japanese Air Force. The7th Air Force was assigned to FEAF after Okinawa, and units of FEAF were amongthe first to enter Tokyoafter the war ended. After the war, the Far East Air Forces became thePacific Air Forces.
