German Altered French M-1866 Chassepot Bayonet for Mauser 1871 & 1888 Rifles:

This is a interesting M1866 French bayonet that appears to me to have been captured by the Germans in 1870 Franco Prussian war and converted for german use. The bayonet has had the french arsenal markings removed from the top tang and has the German maker \"JUNG\" stamped on the ricasso. The scabbard has traces of german nickel plating and has had some numbers lined through and others added. Bayonet has a serial number stamped on it and it does not seem to match the scabbard although they clearly have been together for a long time and have matching rust patina.
