St John the Baptist Single Decade Rosary This great pocket rosary has a 7/8" nickel silver St John the Baptist medal and a 1-3/4" silver-trimmed white acrylic crucifix.Both medal and crucifix were made in Italy; the chaplet itself was designed and handmade by me.The ten Hail Mary beads are genuine Czech glass, faceted and fire-polished in alternating dark aqua blue and light sapphire blue colors. The single Our Father is a smooth, round, genuine Sodalite gemstone. All eleven beads are 8 mm in size. St John the Baptist was the prophet who helped prepare the way for Our Lord Jesus, whom he identified as the "Lamb of God". He was the son of Mary's cousin Elizabeth of the Visitation story. As soon as he saw that Jesus was ready to begin His Ministry, St John knew it was time for him to "decrease"; some of his own disciples went to follow Jesus and the Baptist found himself imprisoned by King Herod and eventually martyred. A great prophet who is the patron saint of birds, lambs, bird dealers, epileptics, convulsive children, farriers, baptism, converts, innkeepers, motorways, printers, tailors and monastic life. He is invoked for protection against convulsions, spasms, epilepsy, hail and hailstorms. The prayer cards which come with our rosaries, medalsand pictures are home-made, created using a "greeting card" programon a computer and printed in full color on nice quality paper. Although theyare not like the usual smaller professionally printed prayer cards, most of ourcustomers prefer them since they are like a pamphlet with 4 "pages"and several images, prayers, patronages and often other information about thesaint or Catholic devotion.
