This listing is for a scolcite peach stilbite mineral specimen it has a natural matrix bottom with a layer of peachy pink stilbite topped with scolcite balls that have so much texture and needles! This is a great mineral specimen! Location India Size Weight ~ 14.9oz or 408.2oz Height ~ 4cm to 6cm Dimensions ~ 14cm x 8cm x 7cm You will receive the exact crystal in this listings pictures! Scolecite is a very fragile mineral it will be shipped with care but with each handling it does flake a little and may show a little flaking or a few needles in packaging when you receive it! Scale of hardness Scolecite- 5-5.5 Stilbite- 3.5-4 Peach Stilbite & white Scolecite cluster, Crystal habit Scolecite- Thin prismatic needles, radiating groups and fibrous masses Stilbite- Thin tabular, aggregates sheaf-like or in bow-ties, also fibrous and globular. Stilbite is a sodium calcium hydrous aluminum silicate. Stilbite’s color is usually white but can be seen as brown, pink, yellow, orange, red or grey. Stilbite is a common member of the zeolite family. Common with apophyllite, cavansite and huelandite within basalt and other volcanic rock. The name Stilbite is derived from the Greek word “stilbein” meaning to shine Scolecite is a hydrous calcium aluminum silicate that is a member of the Zeolite family. It is a secondary crystal that forms in the cavities of basalt. It ranges in color from white, pink, purple, yellow, and red to even colorless. Scolecite named for the Greek word meaning “worm”This was referring to the stones tendency to curl when heated with a blowtorch.
