A fine 17thcentury French ebonisedand boulle bracket or mantel clock. SignedLouis Ourry A Paris. Thisis a type of clock commonly known as a ‘Religieuse’ anddates from around 1675.

Casewith ebonised fruitwood veneer

Doorand pediment with cast brass mounts.

Casewith glazed side windows enabling the movement to be seen.

Dialwith polished engraved silveredbrass chapter ring engravedwith each minute together withsignedpolished brass under dialornament all mounted on adial plate covered with black velvet.

Pairof beautifully pierced and engraved polishedbrass hands (repaired).

Very early type oftandem barrel movement in which both the striking and going trainsare run from the same spring barrel and which runs for approximately1 day (30 hours).

Original vergeescapement with short bob pendulum with silk suspension operatingbetween Huygens type cycloidal cheeks.

Beautifully shapedand finished blued steel ‘gates’ to the strike lifting work.

Early type of framepillars.

Hour indication onthe countwheel with beautiful shaped and blued steel pointer.

Thinning outcollection so now surplus to requirements

Thecase is in good polished condition

Themovement is complete and in good running order keeping good timewithinthe limitations imposed by verge pendulum control.

[Itshould be noted that the pendulum may need re-rating after thedisturbance caused during shipping.

Thereis minimal or no wear that I can see on the movement.

Windingkey included with the clock.
