Large Victorian English Black & Gold Metal Deed Box.No key although originally it would have had a key but this hasBeen lost over time.Deed boxes were very popular in the 19th century in the homeOr in an office. It is made from metal which has been Japanese, aMetal popular in the Victorian times of finishing an object with a highGloss black paint or enamel. It was meant to imitate the Asian lacquerworkOf the day. It has a brass folding handle.The paint work has some scratches, but there is no damage to the box.Found in northern England.
