For Your Limoges Box or French Revolution Related

A very interesting and colorful hand painted porcelain trinket box from Limoges France. This box we believe commemorates the 200th anniversary of Bastille Day. The box, which is cylindrical, is in the shape of a drum. The box has a hinged lid with the lid being the top of the drum. The lid is decorated with several flag including the French flag. The flags are flanking a Red Phrygian or ‘Liberty’ cap on top of a staff. The cap, which is red and has the red, white a blue circle is a symbol of the French revolution. The Lid also has the dates 1789 and the date 1989, which is 200 years later. There are blue lines cress crossing along the sides of the box with red dots on top and bottom of the lines. This is a very interesting box with a hinged lid. Both top and bottom of the box are fitted with brass frames at the edges with a hinge on the back and a locking thumb piece attached to the front of the top portion. The lid has a brass ring which is hinged with a similar brass ring attached to the bottom of the box. The hinge is equipped with a small flattened spot to serve as a stopper for the box\'s lid when opened. The top is the colorful design of flags, French liberty cap, and what looks like cannons, drums, and possibly cannon balls over green plants all over a white background. The box has a round thumb piece which also serves as the locking mechanism for the lid. The inside of the box is white in color. The bottom of the box is marked as to origin and maker of the box. This is a very nice piece from Limoges France to add to your collection of small trinket boxes or to your collection of French revolution related items. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.
