This little boy and his sister sjust bring a smile to the face, don\'t they? They are both so cute and calm and seem very engaged and happy to be having their portraits made.
On the front, below the image, are embossed:
\"Blanchard Studio\" in an easel logoand:\"513 N. Main St.Los Angeles, Cal.\"
James B. Blanchard was an itinerant photographer working in Los Angeles from about 1890 to 1902. He made images of many of the missions and other local landmarks in addition to his portrait work.
Fadingto image. Soiling to card and image. Surface scratching. Top left corner of card clipped. Corner wear.
Card measures about 6.5 x 4.25 inches. Photo measures 5.375 x 3.875 inches. Vignette portrait is about 3.25 x 2 inches, in an interesting horizontal orientation. My mother was a photographer who collected antique photos of all types for years. As I am settling her estate, I will be listing these photos as quickly as I am able. There are hundreds of photos to go through, and I am trying to match any information my mother may have left with individual photos. Unfortunately, Mom had dementia at the end of her life and wasn\'t able to tell me much about her collection. She had done a lot of research into photographers and individual pieces in her collection, and often, but not always, filed her research with the photo(s). I search for more information on the internet and in history books, but it\'s a slow process and it will take me a long time to complete the sorting and selling process.I am always happy to combine shipping on multiple purchases, so please check out my other listings.
