Lot of 50+ Vintage Black & White Photos~1940s~Music~Uncle Jack &Mary Lou Nelson & the Minex Gang~Country & Western~Bluegrass

Normally I break up the huge photo lots I get intocategories. This lot I've kept mostly intact because I found itinteresting and actually did a little research. Most of these are from various incarnations of Uncle Jack and his wife Mary Lou's band—though you can see bythe one 8" x 10" compared to the 5" x 7" (both printed onlightweight "cardboard"—obviously promo photos in bulk for fans, theone has some signatures in pencil from Mary Lou and Uncle Jack though I have noway of authenticating them) that the band's lineup changed. These are early1940s.

Jack and Mary Lou were from Ohio but gained localfame in Reading, Pennsylvania where they had a radio show for quite some timeand spent 11 years performing at Himmelreich’s Grovenear Womelsdorf, PA until the early 1950s. Think I read the venue (outdoors)held 3 to 6 thousand people. These photos appear to be from a few of thoseperformances.

When I searched "Jack andMary Lou, Songs You Love to Hear" I came up with a local (PA) documentaryon them on YouTube where a guy plays what appears to be a rare recording thathas a 1971 performance where they came back to the Grove to play.

I searched both "Miner" and "Minex" game, andthe album cover says "Minex," but I found a little info under both.

Tried to find the name of the band members but the only one I knowfor sure is Shorty Long on the violin, though he plays the accordion on the1971 recording. Possibly Johnny Moose onaccordion in the photos. Other possible band members are Bud Bensen, or BenShelhammer, Jr. or Dick Reynolds.

I left most of the photos that were clearly just the band membersand had their nickname (like "Red" and "Mickey" and"Eddie") written on the back, though I will put a few in other lots.Search in the text of the listing (not the title) for "Uncle Jack & Mary Lou Nelson & the Minex Gang"if you're interested.

Looks like these are from a few differentperformances, e.g., there's one with an older woman who isn't Mary Lou, there'sone with men in black suits with 2 African American man, there's one lineupthat looks like there's one African American man—he's also with the men insuits—who is younger and wearing glasses.

A few other music-related photos are in this lotas well.

The ones with Uncle Jack's band include picturesof him, Mary Lou, band members with fans, full band photos, various bandmembers together or alone, ones with just the guys, signing autographs, goofingaround standing on car, one with a fan (teenaged girl "ChubbyDickerson"); another fan Stephen Bernard, another named Mary Ellen Hardinger;male fans and female fans posing with members of the band; funny one of womanpointing at Jack and Mary Lou, like, "There they are!"; lots of themin front of cars or other vehicles.

Also promo photo of band called The OriginalKiddoodlers from the 1930s. Sepia. From the William Morris Agency—not sure butit looks like a couple of these guys could have joined Uncle Jack and Mary Lou.

2 1930s of boy with trumpet dressed in a militaryuniform

A couple of a kid's church choir—they're singingand in one there's one guitar and the other (November 1969) 2 acousticguitars—statue of Jesus in background

One from September 1957 of a girl holding a toyguitar.

Sorry about the cell phone shadow in the pics—the fluorescent color is NOT on thephotos.

Will combine shipping—other photo lots listed.
