Tōyō Miyatake was a Japanese American photographer, bestknown for his photographs documenting the Japanese American people and theJapanese American internment at Manzanar during World War II. Born in Japan hemigrated to Los Angeles to join his father where he studied photography. He ismost notable for his friendship with Edward Weston and photographs of theManzanar internment camp where he was imprisoned during the war.
