Mansfield & Lamb Civil War Model 1860 Cavalry Sword Saber w/Scabbard - 1864:

US Civil War Model 1860 Cavalry Sword with Scabbard. The ricasso is faintly marked "Lamb", "Forestdale", and on the reverse "US", "J.C.W." and "1864". The knuckleguard by the pommel has an "A8" mark and the top rim of the pommel cap has a couple illegible marks. The grip and pommel are tight, the guard will move a very tiny bit if you force it.The knuckleguard is a bit deformed. The grip has about 95% of the leather remaining. The brass twisted wire is 100% complete.The blade is straight, unsharpened, several medium nicks on the lower half, recently oiled, has age spots scattered throughout, and the last 1/8" of the tip has been broken off. The scabbard is solid with a few anti-rattle dents, edge dings, the throat is marked "M", and it has a darkened patina with light pitting scattered throughout. Washer is intact. Length of the blade is 34 3/4" (1 1/16" wide and 5/16" thick), the sword is 40 7/8", and in the scabbard it is 42 5/8".
