Collisions are critical processes in the evolution of asteroids and planets. Meteorites contain strong evidence of asteroid collisions such as brecciated textures, shock veins containing high-pressure minerals, and various kinds of clast. These features are observed in various types of meteorites.

Breccias are classified by their petrographic and chemical features. To date, many terms have been proposed to describe them (e.g., primitive, genomict, regolith, fragmental, impact melt, and granulitic).

Keil (1982) defined breccias as clastic rocks composed of angular and broken rock fragments, embedded in a fine-grained matrix. Bischoff et al. (2018) suggested that breccias are rocks containing clasts and fragments. Here, we follow such definitions for breccias. Brecciated chondrites often have darkened appearances (silicate-darkening after Rubin, 1992), and some breccias show recrystallization features. Many chondrites exhibit various kinds of clasts.
