This specific cup plate from 1982 highlights the book \'The Narrow Land: Chronicles of Old Cape Cod\' written by Elizabeth Reynard, which tells the story of Cape Cod\'s folk heritage. The intricate design was sketched by the talented Cummaquid artist, Louis Vuilleumier, and later engraved by Andrew Bourbon of Brewster, Massachusetts. Commissioned by the Cape Cod Writers\' Conference, Pairpoint cup plate 171 is a unique and collectible piece that will undoubtedly add a touch of elegance and history to any collection. The artisan created a steel mold with hammer and chisel for each intricate design, and then hand-pressed molten glass into the engraved mold using an antique press. This hand process created a series of cup plates that are similar, but not identical. The irregularities highlight the handmade nature of each piece. Each cup plate has the artisan\'s initials and the Pairpoint trademark embedded within the design.
