Native American Parfleche c1930’s Plateau or D/Lakoka Tribal 10.5” x 25” LARGE:

A Native American parfleche container is a traditional and practical art form by the Plateau Tribal peoples.
Parfleche containers come in square, cylinder, or rectangular shapes and were used to hold personal items (kind of like luggage).
A parfleche is made from rawhide that when wet is formed into a container. When dried it is embellished by painting and/or incising.
This large vintage parfleche rectangular envelope is made from a thick buffalo rawhide. It's painted in red, dark green, blue and yellow.
When closed the container is: 25” long 10.5” wide
When open the container is: 54” long 26.5” wide
