This Lot Consists of a Very Hard to Find, Original, 1903 \"United Liberty League\" - Pin-Back Button and Ribbon. Anti Prohibition Supporters Group Ribbon was Manufactured by Whitehead and Hoag Co., N.Y.C. and has it\'s original paper tag with it\'s AFL-CIO union stamping, attached to back of the ribbon. The celluloid button has manufactured by The Metropolitan Equipment Co., NYC., printed on the button\'s card back with small text stating W&H as the maker.

Unlike the wide variety of liquor prohibition buttons, this is one of the few and among the best that take the opposite view. Reading simply \"United Liberty League\", this group was backed by the liquor industry and the button are stated to likely date from the 1903 race for NYC mayor when the group claimed credit for the Democratic victory of George B. McClellan Jr. and the entire Democratic ticket thanks to their membership of 125,000 who are \"all voters\".

The Celluloid Pin-Back Button is approx 1-1/4\" wide and features a color depiction of Archibald Willard\'s painting \"The Spirit of \'76\". The pinned ribbon is approx. 2-1/8\" wide x 5-1/8\" long and thebutton has it\'s pin-back firmly attached.This is one of the nicer one found and with it\'s original ribbon, making it even harder to find. Piece comes as pictured.

Button and Ribbon come to you, as I got it, 20+ years ago. They came attached to the pictured backing card, which was cut from a Nixon - Javits campaign poster / card. The Campaign Button and Ribbon were album stored and away from light for a long time. See Pics for More Details on Condition
