ORIGINAL 1950\'S ERA U.S. M5A1 PARTS BAYONET WITHOUT BLADE FOR M-1 GARAND RIFLE:

ORIGINAL KOREAN WAR ERA U.S. M5A1 PARTS BAYONET. This bayonet was issued for use with the U.S. M-1 Garand service rifle. It was manufactured by Milpar and is so marked on the cross guard. This bayonet has had the blade cut off & removed by the U.S. Government. What is left is from the cross guard back to the pommel. This was heavily rusted & dirty and has been chemically cleaned to make some of the parts useful again. The grip plates are in good condition (the only thing missing are the two small steel washers that fit inside the recesses for the screws holes on one side of the grip). The screw heads show marring & turning, they will unscrew to remove the grips. All of the internal parts are present and have been cleaned to be functional. The release is in working order. Some of the metal shows pitting and most of the original finish from the metal has worn away in the cleaning process.
