Here is an old photo card of a little girl, Bernardine Stead, who played Little Eva in Stetson\'s Uncle Tom\'s Cabin Company. I guess these were made to promote the play. The photo is of Bernardine dressed in a white dress, with white stockings and shoes and a white hat of ribbons and maybe flowers on her head. She has dark curly hair and is sitting on a fur rug, next to her is I think a teddy bear or stuffed monkey, not sure. Sitting next to her on the floor is a shaggy dog. Printed under the photo is BERNARDINE STEAD AS \"EVA\" IN STETSON\'S UNCLE TOM\'S CABINE COMPANY. It was printed by Hennegan & Co. VM Photo of Cincinnati, Ohio, which is printed in the lower corner. From other similar photos I gather this was from the late 1800s. I did some research and found that bathed in the glow of gas lamps or illuminated by early electric lights, Bernardine Stead\'s portrayal of Eva undoubtedly left a lasting impression on audiences. Her grace, innocence and compassion brought Eva\'s character to life, resonating with theatergoers and reminding us of the power of live performance.The card is not perfect. The photo is nice, with some marks on it. The thin white cardboard it is printed on has stains and rough spots around the edges and corners, looks like some water marks. Some peeling on the corners. The back also has some marks on it. Not bad for it\'s age. Postage will be 4.40 to the U. S.IF OUTSIDE THE U.
