Original French Second Empire Legion of Honour Miniature Medal - Napoleon 1852-70 Very nice original item.The National Order of the Legion of Honour (French: Ordre National de la Légion d'Honneur), formerly the Royal Order of the Legion of Honour (Ordre Royal de la Légion d'Honneur), is the highest French order of merit, both military and civil. Established in 1802 by Napoleon Bonaparte, it has been retained (with occasional slight alterations) by all later French governments and regimes.
This version is in miniature with original ribbon. Appears to be the officer grade, although the rosette appears a later add. Medal made in gold and silver with enamel work. One of five arms is missing the enamel on the observe - otherwise is in excellent condition. Measures 30mm tall.See my other sales with military and other items!Please feel free to ask any questions.
