Huge Lot of 72 Original \"The Press\" Philedelphia Newspapers Bounded
Very hard to find so much history kept together like this for sale.Dated from August 19th-November 14th 1861Size: 29\" x 21\" x 1\"
Historical First Year Coverage of the Civil War. In the onephoto I provided a list that shows some of Civil War events covered
72 issues are bound together in the large hard cover book you see in the photos.
Each Newspaper is 4 pageslongwith a lot of articles covering various events including that first year of the Civil War along with some advertising.
So much historical value and to be able to read the going\'s on of the Civil War first hand as it was happening and being reported.
They originally belonged toKate and William Hood DunwoodyofMinnesota. (You can read the legacy of the Dunwoody\'s onvarious sites on theinternet).
In the year 1914 which was the year of the death of William Hood Dunwoody, it waspresented to the MinnesotaHistorical Society by the Dunwoody Estate.
Eventually they made their way to anestate here in SouthernCalifornia of an avid Civil War Collector.
CONDITION:Every issue is readable and of course needs to be handled with care but they are not brittle. Seems they were nicely taken care of by previous owners.The shading on the newspapers paper is off in thephotos. Inpersonthey look more a dingy off white color and not brightwhite at all.I went through the whole lot one by one (using white gloves to gentle handle). I am providing a lot of photos to help see the condition of the issues. They are in good condition especially for their age. Some creases, tears here or there, toning and browning from age. I tried to show the ones with the most damage in some of the photos along withothers that help show thecondition of the other pages.The hard cover and especiallythe spine has much wear.

Important to note that some are duplicates but they are all ORIGINALI indicate below the month and the how many issues are with that week.For some reason the original owner Mr. William Hood Dunwoody bought the same issue twice.
On a couple newspapers you can see he put his name in pencil at the top \"Dunwoody\"
