Original Vietnam War Wartime ARVN South Vietnamese Made Wound Medal
An all original wartime made wound medal awarded to the forces of South Vietnam. Although many modern production medals of this kind are still readily available in the US, it is interesting to note that these medals were rarely ever awarded to allied forces, and were mostly reserved only for South Vietnamese army personnel. This medal was eligible to be awarded to those either wounded or killed during combat under South Vietnamese command. Most importantly, the back being marked in Vietnamese, alongside its very rudimentary needle mount and lightweight construction, denotes that it was definitely made in wartime conditions in South Vietnam.
The medal has a reasonably seasoned look without any noticeable blemishes, and even the thin enamel in the middle remains in solid shape and the medal itself still retains a good shine. The ribbon is probably the most interesting part, having a faded and weathered look to it. Despite this, there are no major compromises on the integrity of the ribbon itself. Altogether, a textbook example of an uncommonly seen South Vietnamese manufactured medal most likely awarded to a member of the ARVN.
