This is RAREANTIQUEPRE WWI RUSSIAN IMPERIAL DAGGER/ SHORT SWORD / KINJAL. Made in 1905 - 1906. Daggeris used but in good condition, size without scabbard is 19 inches or 48 cm. Blade size is 13 1/4 inches or 34 cm. Both sidesof blade has a mark: \"K.K.B.\" - КУБАНСКОЕ КАЗАЧЬЕ ВОЙСКО -KUBAN COSSACK ARMY ( see picture ). Daggerhas wooden handles and metal guard.Daggerhas leather scabbard with metal parts with mark:\" K.K.B.\"(see picture).The addition to the dagger includes a photograph of a colonel in the Russian Imperial Army. The photo clearly shows that this colonel is armed with a dagger very similar to this one. On the reverse side of the photo is the name of the colonel and his service in the Kuban Cossack Army. The military uniform of the colonel corresponds to the style of the Cossack officers ( see picture ) . Thisdaggera very collectible piece.On the last picture you can see a photo of the times of the Russian Empire of a group of Kuban Cossacks. Each of them is armed with a dagger like this one ( this photo is not included in the set for sale).
Why is this dagger rare. The production of edged weapons in Imperial Russia has been established since the 19th century in large quantities. Millions of bayonets, swords and daggers entered the army every year. In Russia there were about 12 Cossacks Army: Kuban, Don, Ural, Orenburg,Astrakhan and others. For each Cossack Army, weapons were made both in the main production at the Zlatoust factory and also in local workshops on the territory of the Cossacks. This dagger is marked KKB - Kuban Cossack Army. It was made specifically for the Kuban Cossacksonly for a few Kuban regiments.In November 1920, the Red Army attacked and took Perekop and the White Army of General Wrangel left the Crimea. In the mid 1920s. About 200 families of Cossacks from the White Army settled in near the city of Jackson, New Jersey. The state administration provided space for houses for the Cossack families and assisted in the construction of the church. This dagger was found in one of the houses where the Cossacks and their relatives lived.
