Made in England For Your Brass or Candlestick Holders Collection or To Use Around Your This is a beautiful pair of vintage brass candlestick or candle stick holder. These are table top holders having a square footed base. The holders have a relatively short shaped column or stem ending in cups on top where the candles would be inserted having straight sides and flat upwards flared flat wax catches. These candlestick holders are of classical design and were purchased from a country estate sale. The holders appear to have seen quite a bit of use and have been scratched during the cleaning process. They could use a good polishing to bring out their full beauty. Both are marked Made in England in raised lettering on the base. Please carefully review photos as they are part and parcel of our description. Date: Uncertain but most likely mid to late 1900s.Origin: England.Size: The base in both measures ~3 3/8" by ~3 3/8" and the sticks are ~4 1/8" tall. The opening in the cup where the candle would fit is ~3/4" in diameter and is about 1" deep. The two pieces are substantial together weighing almost two pounds of solid brass.Maker: UnknownMarks: Marked on the base of both pieces in raised lettering "MADE IN ENGLAND."Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: These candlestick holders are just very nice and would make a great accent in your country home decor. They have a classic and very distinctive look.Condition: Generally in good condition with no breaks, dings, cracks, or repairs. Both pieces have scratches, soiling, some stains including what looks like red ink on the base of one of the two pieces. Both pieces are nicely cast of solid brass and look great. We believe that these candlestick holders were heavily used and cleaned on many occasions and hence some of the scratches you see. Both pieces could use a good cleaning to bring out their full beauty but we leave that to the discretion of the new owner. Please see photos for additional condition information.
