Primitive Antique Scandinavian Bentwood Oval Box Dated 1795 Original Paint:

This is an extremely rare primitive bentwood oval box dated 1795. It could be Scandinavian: maybe Swedish or Norwegian. It still has it's original green paint on the box with red paint lettering. It is handmade - nailed and laced. It is decorated on the top with the date 1795 and what appears to be initials. It has a dot pattern on the top, both sides, and the bottom. Both the lid and the bottom have been laced at the over lap with what appears to be reed. The bottom is nailed with very tiny nails. It is 6 1/2 inches long, 4 inches wide and 2 1/2 inches tall. It is in extremely good condition for being over 228 years old. Has some scratches and nicks. This would be an excellent addition to your collection. You may never find another one as old and in such rare condition. Attached are photos of the invoice for $595 from 2006 that accompanied this box when found.
