Merit Sejr or Merit Seger (the meaning of the name in ancient Egyptian: who loves silence), is an ancient Egyptian queen and the wife of King Senusret III of the Twelfth Dynasty. Queen Meritseger appears in sources from the New Kingdom as the wife of Senusret III. According to these sources, this queen is the first to bear the title of the great royal wife, which later became a distinguished title for the chief wife of the kings of Egypt. She was also the first queen to have her name placed inside a cartouche. However, there are no contemporary sources for this queen, as it may have been a fabrication from the era of the New Kingdom.
