RARE Antique 8 Day Ansonia Timer Clock / Wooden 7.5\" x 7.5\" x 5\" Mahogany Box Brass Handle Runs. This belonged to my grandfather who was a skilled engineer and inventor in Toledo Ohio. I found it in his basement and always said I would find out what its intended purpose was. I never did follow through. The case is well constructed and note the joint configuration. I believe it has a Mahogany finish and nicely turned hardware for a handle. The box also has a latch and hinges that are also well made. Notice the nice brass contact hardware on the outside of the box. The Ansonia brass movement is mounted on a bakelite platform .It is marked Ansonia and has two mainsprings to operate the 8 day lever escapement. The three hands appear to be blued steel and in good condition. I will include a key. If anyone has any thoughts on what this did I would like to know. It appears that perhaps it triggered every couple of seconds. The cloth wire also gives a idea of its age.Did it trigger a slave clock? Most likely it was a DC system.
