RARE PAIR EARLY to MID 20TH CENTURY AMERICAN ANTIQUE BRONZE WREN BIRD BOOKENDS, with GREEN MARBLE, LACQUERED BURLWOOD & LATHE-TURNED WALNUT HARDWOOD BASES with OLD BROWN FELT PROTECTIVE COVERS[Offered for your review & consideration is this lovely pair of early to mid-20th century American vintage wren wild bird bronze bookends, with lacquered burlwood & variegated, veined green marble, stacked on a lathe-turned walnut hardwood base with old protective brown felt covers.This estate fresh duo is from a well-appointed estate in greater Boston, MA. They were clearly never abused & are thought to have only had one previous owner. They sat on a shallow desk in the library of the doctor who once owned them, who was said to also have been an avid outdoorsman & birdwatcher. The figuration of the wrens is asymmetrical & slightly different from bird to bird. There\'s no visible damage to either of the figures, such as dings, dents, deformities, surface scratches or scuffs. The bronze has a now darkened, naturally oxidized vintage patina. The surfaces of the birds are highly detailed and well realized, illustrating the bird\'s eyes, plumage & upright tail.
