Rare 1970s Peterson Block Meerschaum Freestyle Slightly Bent Rusticated Tobacco Pipe in Outstanding lightly smoked condition.
Peterson only made the "Freestyle" series of Meerschaum Pipes for a brief period starting in the late 1970's and discontinued by The mid 1980's, Available in 6 Different Shapes, all unique.
This is the first I've come across, and I must say she's a Beauty! And Very lightly smoked to boot. Reminiscent of the Freehand pipes of the era, but Meerschaum, and capable of out living us all.
Interesting rustication style, the likes of which I've never seen before, the process looks like it was tedious to say the least. The Bowl rim has been factory "Fumed", giving it an Aged look.
The chamber is in Outstanding Near Mint smoked condition, with Clean Meerschaum visible.
The Fancy Vulcanite stem is Jet black, Chatter Free and sports the White "P" Stamping synonymous with Peterson's pipes. The Stem underside is Stamped "Great Britain".
"Peterson pipe notes, had this to say about the Freestyle meerschaum pipes by Peterson: The Freestyle meers are, in my opinion, as important to Kapp & Peterson’s design language of the 1970s as the Dunmore Premier System was of the 1980s and Original SH series of the 1990s. Shown here is one of the six shapes available at the time, The coral-like blast of the meer, combined with the ‘smoked’ crenel and merlons of the rim and almost square-cut shank. It’s simply an outstanding pipe and one that deserves more than to be forgotten in the mists of time.

* Meerschaum is fully intact with Zero cracks, chips or missing pieces. * Chamber is in outstanding lightly smoked condition. * Stem is Jet black Vulcanite with Zero chatter and it fits the Delrin lined Mortice Snuggly. * Cleaned inside/out and polished to a Shine with Bee's Wax.
